Solar Energy
Solar is the popular renewable energy resource. Solar photovoltaic products are now commonly deployed across the USA. In just a few years solar energy has become cheaper than fossil fuel alternatives. Costs and capabilities of solar technologies are constantly improving. Solar will soon be integrated into all of our buildings.
McGeown Associates is proud to be instrumental in bringing over 300MW of renewable generation on Army, and to the Cyril E. King Airport on St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands.
Often overlooked, Solar Thermal is a good option for many locations to reduce fossil fuel consumption for hot water and heating applications. It will be an integral part of a clean energy economy.

Wind Energy
Wind energy is an increasingly common resource for electricity production across the planet. It is one of the most cost effective renewable technologies. It has been cheaper than fossil fuel for some time. Wind power supplied nearly 12 percent of the US’s electricity demand across 39 states in 2023. Advances in technology continue to make wind much less expensive and more reliable. The cost of deploying wind energy has dropped by 90 percent since the 80’s. Near term improvements are poised to make wind economical in every state and for US offshore wind. The US is now catching up with the rest of the world.

Bio Energy
Bio energy is playing an important role in reduction of global greenhouse gasses across the globe.
Bio fuel is already finding innovative applications in transportation and power generation. Airlines are have successfully conducted flights with biofuel blends. A few 100% biofuel test flights have proven it can work. Next efforts will focus on mass production of cost effective biofuels.
Biomass is another renewable resource that can be used to produce electricity and heat. Organic products and wastes, such as forestry and animal by-products are now being utilized to create energy.
MCGA is proud to be been part of the Army team to develop a biofuel power plant a Schofiled Barracks, Hawaii and a wood chip biomass power plant at Fort Drum in New York.
