Our Philosophy
McGeown Associates believes that work should be fun. Work should be so fulfilling and exciting that you leap out of bed each morning eager to get on with the day.
Dennis Bakke defined fun at work as “a joy-filled, rewarding, creative work environment, free of autocratic supervisors and staff offices, where each and every employee could fully utilize his or her talents for success.”
We believe that society and the businesses needed to make society function would be better if the people in those businesses were guided by a unifying purpose for that business to contribute to society, rather than a set of numbers to reach financial goals.
Much work today fails to be fun, people have been reduced to boxes in spreadsheets. At McGeown Associates we believe that people are capable of doing more that they are asked to do, if you give them the opportunity to do so; and that people are inherently honest, if you provide them the right environment. This requires trust, and for trust to work we must all be accountable for our actions.
Our Values
Stewardship and Integrity. These two human traits are embodied in the two core principles that guide all of our activities.
STEWARDSHIP
McGeown Associates is dedicated to stewarding the resources we have been given for future generations by applying our skills and experience to reducing energy consumption and generating clean electric energy.
INTEGRITY
For McGeown Associates, trust is everything. Integrity is a refusal to engage in lying, blaming, or other behavior generally seeming to evade accountability.
All of this can is summarized in Peter’s instructions (1 Peter 5:1-3)
Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, serving as overseers not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.
Why We Work
We are dedicated to our work to serve individuals like Donna, the housekeeper, we first met at the Buccaneer Hotel on St. Croix. After she had paid her utility bill she could not buy shoes for her children. Since then we have met many others that don’t have access to clean, safe, reliable, and affordable energy. That just can’t be in the 21st century. Being able to develop energy systems that can improve life for people like Donna is what inspires us every day.
We also live by standards of integrity to serve our clients with unquestioned honest and impartial advice.
